The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1984 and is located on the western slopes of the western ghats. The length and breadth of the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over 55square meters. The Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is the northern most wildlife sanctuary of Kerala.

The prime attractions of the place are the Forest coast tropical evergreen and west coast semi evergreen forests. The wide spread sanctuary has richness of the trees and plantation like teak and eucalyptus in more than 490 hectares within the forest area.
