Bandipur
National Park is located
within Chamarajanagar district
in the southern Indian state of
Karnataka, and abuts the states
of Tamil Nadu & Kerala. It
is near where the Deccan Plateu
rises to meet the Western Ghat
Mountains.
In 1974, under the Project Tiger,
this was notified as the National
park of India. It was one of the
first tiger reserves in India.
The climate of this park is very
moderate and has a diverse variety
of fauna and flora which makes
it a paradise for the visitors
who come to dwell in the beauty
and magic of the park. However this park is facing the
problem of ivory poaching and
illegal felling of sandalwood
trees. The park is surrounded
by other reserves like Nagarhole,
Madumalai and Wynaad, which provide
excellent escape routes for the
very jungle wise miscreants.
The Bandipur National
Park covers an area
of 965 square Kms. And proves
as a visitor’s paradise.
The ideal time to visit the Bandipur National Park
is between the months of April
and October.
