Bondla
Wildlife Sanctuary that is
about 50 Kms from Panaji and 38 Kms
from Margao and 20 Kms east of Ponda.
It is spread in the small area of
8 square miles and is smaller of the
three wild life sanctuaries in Goa,
run by the Forest service. It is more
of a jungle resort with tourist cottages
available on site run by the GTDC.
The common animals that inhabit the
Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
are the Gaur and the Sambhar deer.
Besides these two major animals there
is a certain number of the local habitats
also which keep the Bondla
Wildlife Sanctuary busy and
crowded. Its jungle resort and the
cottage concept in itself is the attraction
for tourists who want to have a feel
of staying in the jungle. It has a
small zoo, deer park and botanical
gardens. It is a popular destination
for school picnics. The elephant rides
here are the main attraction for the
visitors. The Fauna
The hills to the southeast are populated
by Monkeys, Wild Boar, Deer, Gaur,
Langurs, Jackals, Pythons, and Leopards.
Bondla is also another bird-watching
haven like its counterparts at Chorao
and Cotigao.
