Gir wildlife Sanctuary
in Gujarat was created to protect
the last wild population of Lion outside
the African regions. Since 1913 when
the Lion population over here fell
drastically to just 20 animals, the
numbers have increased to around 300.
It is located 42 Kms away from Junagarh
Gujarat. The major attraction of Gir
wildlife Sanctuary is Asiatic
Lions, Leopards and Chowsingha. The
total area covered by Gir
wildlife Sanctuary is 1413
squire kilometers. The attractions
adjoining this are Tracks to Devaganga,Riley's,
Bawal Chowk, Kankai, Chodardi, Tulsishyam
and Kamleshwar dam/lake. Ideal Time
to Visit the Park is between the months
of November and June.
The climate here is extreme it is very cold in winters and very hot in the summers. With all its extremities this park is the constant attraction for the visitors.
