The
Kanha National Park
is located among the Banjar and Halon
valleys in the Mandla / Balaghat districts
of the state of Madhya Pradesh. The
nearest railway station to the park
is located at Jabalpur(160km).
The central Kanha
valley was declared a sanctuary way
back in 1933 but got it's status as
a National Park in 1955. It covers
a large area of 1,945 square kilometers,
out of which 940 square kilometers
comes under Tiger Reserve. The Tiger
Reserve was created in 1974 under
Project Tiger. Park's fauna and flora,
makes Kanha one of
the most well maintained National
Parks in Asia. The
main attraction within the Park is Bamni
Dadar, popularly known as Sunset Point
that offers the most awe-inspiring backdrop
of the sunset against grazing Sambhars
and Gaurs. It is said that nowhere a
tiger can be seen as frequently or as
freely as you see in the Kanha National Park. |
