The
Keoladeo National Park,
more commonly known as Bharatpur Bird
Sanctuary, is located in Rajasthan
between the two historic cities Agra
and Jaipur. In 1956 it got established
as bird sanctuary, 1981 as a national
park the Keoladeo
Ghana National Park, one of the finest
water-bird sanctuaries in the world
the lake and wetland was artificially
created by the Maharaja of Bharatpur
in the 19th century.
Keoladeo Ghana National Park
or Bharatpur hosts a variety of bird
species (Siberian crane etc) from
across the globe. Close to 380 species
of birds are found in this 29 sq km
stretch, 44,000 trees that are used
for nesting by birds each year.The
park covers an area of 28.73km.
The birds which migrate here are colourful kingfishers, graceful pelicans rare Siberian cranes and trans- continental fliers- the migratory water. |
