The Keoladeo National Park, more commonly known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, is located in Rajasthan between the two historic cities Agra and Jaipur. In 1956 it got established as bird sanctuary, 1981 as a national park the Keoladeo Ghana National Park, one of the finest water-bird sanctuaries in the world the lake and wetland was artificially created by the Maharaja of Bharatpur in the 19th century.
Keoladeo Ghana National Park or Bharatpur hosts a variety of bird species (Siberian crane etc) from across the globe. Close to 380 species of birds are found in this 29 sq km stretch, 44,000 trees that are used for nesting by birds each year.The park covers an area of 28.73km.
The birds which migrate here are colourful kingfishers, graceful pelicans rare Siberian cranes and trans- continental fliers- the migratory water.

The ducks usually found here are pintail, widgeon, common shelduck, shoveler, garganey, teal, mallard pochard etc.
Keoladeo National Park is open to visitors throughout the year, but it is more rewarding to visit it between August to end of March.
   
How to reach
   
Air :
The nearest airport is situated at Guwahati, 217 kms away. The other airport at 97 kms is in Jorhat.

Rail :
The nearest railhead is located in Furkating, situated 75 km away.

Road :
Kaziranga National Park is easily accessible by buses between Guwahati and the east. Along with private buses, there are also Assam State Transport buses that ply the route.
