The Khangchendzonga National
park, located in the foothills
of Eastern Himalayas, was recognized
as a national park on 26th August,
1977. It was after a due consideration
of the floral, faunal, ecological,
geomorphologic importance and the
wildlife potentiality of the area.
The total area covered by the park
is 849.50 Square Kms.
The park holds importance for its
continuous tract of mountainous land
with valleys of lush green forests,
meadows, alpine lands reserved primarily
for the conservation of its native
wildlife and also for primitive wilderness,
natural lakes, tumbling tributary
streams, flowered fields and imposing
canyon. The beauty in its full bloom
