The Manas National Park
is located in the foothills the Kamran
District in the state of Assam.
First established in 1928 as a reserve
forest, the Manas National
Park was designated as a
tiger reserve park in 1973.
The Park covers an area of about 519.77
square kilometers and is home for
twenty highly endangered species of
birds and animals.
The wildlife seen here is hispid hare,
pygmy hog and the red panda which
can be seen occasionally at higher
altitudes. the Indian elephant, gaur,
water buffalo and Indian rhinoceros.
It is the only home for the golden
leaf monkey.
