Muthanga
Wildlife Sanctuary is located
16 kilometers east of Sulthaan Bathery.
The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
was established in the year
1973. The sanctuary spreads over an
area of 345 squares Km and with varieties
of animals and vegetation. The Muthanga
Wildlife Sanctuary comes
under Project Elephant.
Here elephants roam freely and tigers
are also spotted quite frequently.
The major wildlife found here is species
of deer, monkeys, birds etc. To make
the visitors have a special feel of
the jungle and animals, elephant rides
are arranged by the Forest Department.
The vegetation over here is typically
south Indian with deciduous forests
semi evergreen forests. The best time
to visit this place is June to October.
