Nal
Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, as
the name indicates is the largest
lake sanctuary in Gujarat and one
of the biggest in India.
The Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary
is located 64 Kms way from Ahemdabad
in the state of Gujrat and is easily
reachable by rail and road.
The bird lake is spread over an area
of 123 square Kms and is home for
a number of resident and migratory
birds. It provides shelter to more
than 210 bird species. Besides the
birds a few mammalian species including
the endangered wild ass and the blackbuck
are also found here.
The birds seen fluttering in the
lake are flamingoes, pelicans, , geese,
cranes, storks, ibises, spoonbill,
wading birds, swallows, fishing eagles,
osprey, harriers and in great numbers.
