Nameri National Park
shares boundary with the Pakhui Wildlife
Sanctuary of Arunachal. The Park came
into being in 1997 and was declared
as a tiger reserve in the year 2000.
The total area covered by the park
is 2000 square Kms.
The park has semi-evergreen, moist
deciduous forests with cane and bamboo
brakes and narrow strips of open grassland
along rivers. More than 300 species
of birds have been identified here
four species of Horn Bill, an abundance
of Hill Mynas,Bluebeard Bee Eaters,
Barbets, Babblers, Bulbuls, Plovers,
Ibisbills, etc. Also seen are King
Vultures, Fishing Eagles, Blacked
Necked Storks and other resident and
migratory birds.
